Reviving Communities with Tech Enabled Sustainable Microgreens

VOEKS SCOPE: DESIGN AND BUILD IRRIGATION, FERTIGATION, WATER TREATMENT, LIGHTING AND CONTROLS.

Wilder Fields, based in Calumet City, Illinois, is a cutting-edge vertical farm that specializes in producing a wide range of fresh, safe, and sustainably grown microgreens and salads. Utilizing a repurposed 135,000 square-foot facility, originally a Super Target store, Wilder Fields operates under a highly controlled indoor environment that employs advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and hydroponic systems. This setup allows them to produce high-quality greens with significantly reduced water and energy consumption, making their operations both eco-friendly and efficient. Wilder Fields is noted for transforming local food systems by reducing the supply chain length and delivering fresh produce rapidly to the nearby markets.

For the Wilder Fields facility in Calumet City, we provided a comprehensive design and installation service for their irrigation, fertigation, water treatment, controls, and lighting systems. Our role was crucial in setting up the environmental controls that support their vertically farmed crops, ensuring that the growth conditions are optimal throughout the year. By integrating state-of-the-art lighting solutions along with precise irrigation and fertigation systems, we helped Wilder Fields maximize their crop yield and quality. This project highlights our expertise in creating sustainable and efficient agricultural solutions that are tailored to the needs of innovative farming operations like Wilder Fields.
